About the role
- The Speech Language Pathology Assistant will provide speech and language therapy for students in grades TK-8 according to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- They will report to the Special Education Coordinator and will be supported and supervised by a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.
- Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students under the supervision of a licensed Speech-
Responsibilities
- Implement documented therapy plans and treatment protocols developed by the supervising SLP.
- Support student use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and provide instruction on their use as directed by the SLP.
- Adapt or modify instructional and therapy materials to support student needs and access to communication strategies in the classroom.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support the implementation of communication strategies and speech/language supports in classroom instruction.
- Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging environment that promotes student communication development.
Requirements

- Specific hearing abilities are required by this job.
- Bachelor's degree or completion of a SLPA program from an accredited program required
- Valid California Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with students in a school setting
Nice to have
- Fluency in Spanish preferred

Skills
- Experience working with English learners a plus
- Fluency in Spanish preferred; but not required
- Assist with speech and language screenings using established screening tools and procedures under the supervision of the SLP.
