About the role

  • If you are currently employed at Smithfield, please log into Workday and submit your application through the Jobs Hub.
  • Tasks include but not limited to ADU sanitation, transload, groundskeeping, as well as assistance with emergency animal removal as needed.
  • The employee may operate mowers, tractors, yard jockey trucks, and other farm equipment as directed along with various other tasks suited for maintaining an ADU facility.

Requirements

  • Ability to do hard physical labor.
  • Ability to follow instructions and deal with standardized situations.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklift and standard farm/utility equipment such as but not limited to bobcat, tractor, lawnmower, weed eater etc.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to walk an average of 2 - 4 miles per day, occasionally up to 5 or 6.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a limited basis.
  • Must be able to occasionally work in situations two feet above the floor in a leaned-over or squatted position.
  • Must be able to operate a high-pressure washing system.

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.
  • Willingness to be on call when needed.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklift and standard farm/utility equipment such as but not limited to bobcat, tractor, lawnmower, weed eater etc. Operate high pressure water sprayer.
  • Must hold a current NC Driver's License.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Nice to have

  • Forklift, bobcat, tractor preferred.
  • Working in all phases of ADU Transload including but not limited to studying incoming load patterns and volumes for estimating load counts.
  • Arranging and overseeing loading and unloading of trailers and trucks, generating schedule for departing loads to meet shipping schedule.
  • Prepares all paperwork for incoming and outgoing loads and completes paperwork upon time of receipt.
  • Performing interior detailing and cleaning of all ADU vehicles and equipment as needed or requested.
  • Keeping truck wash area clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Assist in emergency spill clean ups with mortality removal
  • Assist with grounds and facility upkeep by cutting grass, taking out trash, and cleaning inside and outside the facility when required.

Compensation

  • Compensation $15.45 hourly - Must have Valid Drivers License and GOOD Driving Record!
