About the role

  • Reporting to the Senior Director of Membership, the seasonal Membership Engagement Associate serves as a field-based representative of The Trustees' membership program.
  • This is a table- and event-based role focused on direct membership sales at key and events across the state.
  • Working independently at assigned sites, you will engage visitors in conversation about the value of membership, process on-site membership sales, and represent The Trustees with warmth and professionalism at and events throughout the season.

Responsibilities

  • Through friendly, in-person conversation, you will contribute directly to membership growth and help ensure more people can connect with and support the places they love.
  • Property & Event Support Set up, maintain, and break down an attractive, well-stocked membership table or booth, including signage and member materials.

Requirements

Nice to have

  • Sales or customer-facing experience preferred (retail, hospitality, fundraising, canvassing, or similar)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage comfortably with diverse audiences.
  • Confidence and enthusiasm for initiating conversations and promoting membership through in-person interactions.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing needs across different and events.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Basic comfort with point-of-sale and working on a tablet, training provided.
  • Reliable transportation and the flexibility to travel regularly to assigned and events throughout Massachusetts.

Compensation

  • $25k-$35k

  • As a seasonal Membership Engagement Associate, you will play a key role in growing that connection by engaging visitors where they experience our mission firsthand, at membership tables at key reservations and events across the Commonwealth during our busiest season.
  • As a visible ambassador for The Trustees, you will help visitors discover the value of membership and inspire them to become part of a community that supports conservation, public access, and cultural experiences throughout Massachusetts.

  • Specifically, you'll be responsible for: Membership Sales & Visitor Engagement Staff membership tables and pop-up booths at assigned Trustees and events throughout Massachusetts.
