About the role
- This role will be responsible for aligning driveshafts from waterjet to engine, including bearings, gearboxes, and couplings.
- The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex problems, working directly onboard vessels, and supporting high-tempo maritime operations in both shipyard and field environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform equipment inspections, startup activities, functional testing, and operational verification during vessel construction and commissioning
- Coordinate with production, commissioning, engineering, and maritime operations teams to support vessel readiness and delivery schedules
- Maintain accurate commissioning records, test reports, alignment documentation, and operational logs
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on vessel quality, integration efficiency, and operational performance
- Willingness to travel in support of vessel testing, demonstrations, customer support, and operational deployments
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in shipbuilding, vessel maintenance, marine operations, industrial equipment installation, commissioning, manufacturing, or related technical fields
- Experience working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, propulsion, networking, or automation systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, installation procedures, and test documentation
- Ability to work onboard vessels, in fabrication facilities, around heavy equipment, and in waterfront environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams
Nice to have
- Marine propulsion, shaft alignment, rotating equipment, or machinery installation experience
- Experience with laser alignment tools, surveying equipment, metrology systems, or precision measurement equipment
- Experience supporting customer acceptance testing or operational readiness activities
- Familiarity with aluminum vessel construction, modular assembly, or advanced manufacturing environments
