About the role

Sparwood Fire Services is a dedicated team led by the Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief, supported by an Assistant Chief, Training Captain, Captains, Lieutenants, and Firefighters.
As a member of this team, you will gain valuable skills, hands-on training, and lifelong friendships while serving and protecting your community.

Participate in regular training, drills, and practice sessions to maintain and enhance your skills

Be at least 19 years of age
Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
Reside within the District of Sparwood
Possess a valid Class 5 non-restricted driver's license with a safe driving record
Provide a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
Be in good physical condition and able to successfully complete a physical agility test
Be capable of performing prolonged, physically demanding work in adverse conditions and inclement weather
Be available to attend required training sessions and maintain an acceptable attendance record for emergency calls

Ensure the cleaning, servicing, and maintenance of equipment, apparatus, turnout gear, and uniforms
Paid On-Call Firefighters receive continuous training, professional development, and the tools needed to respond effectively to emergencies.
