About the role

  • The Senior Buyer at PTR plays a critical leadership role in the strategic sourcing and purchasing of production parts across all locations.
  • The Senior Buyer will be responsible for high-level negotiations, cost optimization, inventory ownership, supplier performance management, and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies while negotiating pricing, terms, and service agreements.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve cost, quality, delivery, and overall performance.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Buyers, setting clear performance expectations and driving accountability.
  • Oversee purchasing activities and collaborate with Production, Warehouse, Service, and Operations to ensure timely execution.
  • Maintain accurate master data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and procurement records to support operational excellence.

  • We partner with the Predictive Index behavioral assessment tool, which helps identify natural behavioral drives such as dominance, extraversion, patience, and formality.
  • This tool supports hiring decisions, team development, and employee engagement throughout the entire employee lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or strategic sourcing experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven success in negotiating supplier agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Nice to have

  • Experience in fleet management, manufacturing, or distribution environments.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes, including procurement, logistics, inventory, and manufacturing.
  • Experience with ERP systems, PIM platforms, or inventory management software.
  • APICS/ASCM certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, or CPSM.

Compensation

  • This position offers a competitive compensation package, benchmarked to regional market standards.
  • It consists of a base salary plus the opportunity for quarterly profit sharing after one year of employment.
