About the role

DISCRETION EXERCISED: Full discretionary authority to correct and discipline, recommend pay increases, transfers, promotions, discharges and process grievances of employees assigned under this individual while working offsite projects.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to humid conditions, bright flashing lights, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat.
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles at or below the PEL, toxic or caustic chemicals, and heat and cold.

Manages off site repairs with Subcontractors.
Works with Austal SCM personnel for parts support.
Exercises subcontracting authority to hire and manage the performance of subcontractors/vendors in the execution of warranty provisions.

Six (6) years shipyard experience or eight (8) years maritime experience required.
Three (3) years supervisory experience, or, two (2) years as a Post Delivery Service Engineer II (Warranty Engineer II) required.
Four (4)+ years knowledge of shipyard practices and operational principles of the shipbuilding process required.
As this individual will communicate with senior Navy/Civilian counterparts, an ability to communicate and speak effectively required.
Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend ship construction drawings, schematics, technical manuals and equipment operational procedures/information required.
Fundamental technical understanding of ships propulsion systems, electrical power generation and auxiliaries related to marine vessels required.
Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience with large propulsion diesels (5,000HP+) and propulsion gas turbine engines (20,000HP+) required.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and personnel under very visible oversight required.
Possess ability to work under pressure to place the vessel back into operation as quickly as possible required.
Possess the desire and ability to speak in public and to deliver information to the customer and Austal USA required.
A combination of education and years' experience may be considered in lieu of experience described above.
Prior Homeport repair/modification experience desired.

Must be able to use the Microsoft Office programs as well as other Austal systems used in the management of our shipbuilding contracts.
Must be able to read and understand contractual documentation and be able to speak to those issues with our contracts department.
