About the role
- We're looking for an experienced transactional lawyer to join our Commercial Legal team supporting Stripe's business in the Americas.
- You'll work closely with Sales, Product Legal, and teams across Stripe to solve challenging problems and provide practical advice.
- You'll also help improve how the Commercial Legal team works, including through the use of AI tools.
Responsibilities
- Support the Americas Sales team and lead negotiations for complex and strategic commercial agreements.
- Partner with Product Legal to bring new products and features to market.
- Draft and maintain agreements and playbooks, improve internal processes, and use AI tools to help the team work more effectively with colleagues, partners, and users.
- Collaborate with teams globally, including Sales, Operations, Product, Tax, and Risk.
- Help the global Commercial Legal team deliver consistent, efficient support as Stripe grows.
- Develop and deliver training and resources that help the Sales team understand and sell Stripe's products.
- Stripe is a technology company that builds financial infrastructure for the internet.
- Our products support a broad range of business needs, from payments and software services to emerging areas such as stablecoins and agentic commerce.
Requirements
- We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements below.
Nice to have
- Experience in payments or financial technology, including familiarity with related regulatory issues.
- In-house experience advising high-growth companies.
- Working knowledge of large language model (LLM) tools.
- Experience using AI technology to improve legal processes.
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree or foreign equivalent, and membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
- At least 8 years of relevant legal experience, either in-house or in the technology practice of a leading law firm.
- Familiarity with the legal issues and commercial risks associated with hosted data and technology services.
- A proactive approach and a strong sense of ownership.
