About the role

  • Join Centre College as we recruit exceptional faculty and staff!
  • Primary duties include assisting the Residence Life & Housing Office in areas of leadership, education and training, residential curriculum, RA supervision, and assisting in coordinating campus housing.
  • The Area Coordinator (AC) is responsible for creating and maintaining a comprehensive residential environment that is academically and socially stimulating.

Responsibilities

  • Develop meaningful working relationships with RAs through one-on-one meetings and staff meetings;
  • Implement community development strategies aligned with the residential curriculum;
  • Manage a budget used for programming and student staff development within the residential area;
  • Provide support for and direction to the Residence Life & Housing student staff;
  • Conduct regular building walk-throughs;

Requirements

  • Occasional night and weekend work is required.

Nice to have

  • Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One year of full-time or 2 years of part-time residence life experience in a collegiate environment strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presenting to groups and in a one-to-one setting.

  • Respond to crisis situations including but not limited to facilities related emergencies, medical emergencies, mental health emergencies, and behavioral concerns as part of the professional staff on-call rotation.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of learning outcomes and assessment procedures for Residence Life & Housing;
