About the role

  • Career Opportunity GeoSpectrum is growing and has a new career opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager!
  • The TM provides senior level technical expertise to the project, engineering and technical teams, ensures product deliverables meet company, customer, and quality expectations.
  • The Technical Manager regularly interacts with internal delivery teams, subcontractors, and customer technical representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Planning: Support the project/program manager in project planning including work breakdown, resource management, procurement, and scheduling.
  • Mentorship: Mentor engineer and technical teams by providing technical guidance and support in resolving complex engineering challenges, sharing knowledge, and reviewing performance.
  • Configuration Management: Support configuration management initiatives, contributing technical expertise, procedure, documentation.
  • Risk Management: Anticipate, identify, mitigate, and manage risks and roadblocks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and tools.
  • Reporting to the Manager of Systems Engineering, the Technical Manager is responsible for the technical leadership of design, development, and implementation of engineering technical solutions.
  • Support the project/program manager in project planning including work breakdown, resource management, procurement, and scheduling.
  • Mentor engineer and technical teams by providing technical guidance and support in resolving complex engineering challenges, sharing knowledge, and reviewing performance.
  • Support configuration management initiatives, contributing technical expertise, procedure, documentation.
  • Anticipate, identify, mitigate, and manage risks and roadblocks.

Requirements

  • 15 + years of engineering experience in a related field.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, project engineering, or technical management.
  • Experience interacting with SMEs, developers, engineers and technicians from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering tools, software and project management methodologies.
  • Experience in marine systems, defence, or aerospace sectors, an asset.
  • All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or related field)
  • Extensive technical capability and experience that provides you with confidence to make multi-dimensional technical decisions.
  • Leadership experience and training is an asset.
  • Holds a valid Canadian passport.
