About the role
- The Early Head Start Associate Teacher assists the Lead Teacher and/ or Center Director and assumes responsibility for general supervision, development and education of children, and partnering with families at our Toyon Center which provides a unique Dual Language Immersion EHS program with an emphasis on Environmental Education programming. EHS is a federally funded school readiness and family support program for low-income and special needs children that promotes parents/guardians as the primary educator of the child.

Responsibilities
- In this Dual Language Immersion center you will be a language model as assigned by program design.
- Develops and implements lesson plans to execute current program goals.
- Develops and maintains a safe and healthy classroom environment in accordance with Head Start, title 5, and title 22 regulations.
- Implements rules and practices in support of positive child redirection.
- Maintains and updates written records and reports in accordance with the head Start and title 5 act in a timely manner.
- Maintains an open and friendly relationship with staff, parents, and program volunteers.
- Opportunities to connect with and learn from colleagues and partners around the world
Requirements
- Provides a continuous and interactive process between families and program providers that foster the parent partnership agreements as required by the federal regulations under the Head Start Act.
- Conducts required parent/teacher meetings as set forth by both the Head Start Act and Title 5.
- Attends required classroom, center, and organization meetings.
Nice to have
- Minimum Associate Teacher Permit or higher credential
- 3 ECE units of Infant Toddler Development
- Bi-Literate in Spanish (required) and/or Mandarin, Vietnamese (preferred)
- Supervision of teaching assistants and volunteers, highly desirable
- Knowledge of Federal Head Start policies and procedures, highly desirable
- Required CPR/First Aid Training Certification
- Required to be a mandated abuse reporter

- The ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job duties
