About the role

  • You will work closely with the other members of our Legal team and a range of other teams across the business, including our Compliance, Finance, Product, Marketing and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Our new Corporate Counsel will be responsible for providing internal partners with legal advice and counsel on a range of subject matter issues relevant to Wealthfront's business, including long-term projects, corporate strategies, and day-to-day matters.
  • You will primarily support the Company's corporate legal, securities, and corporate governance functions, including public company reporting, but may also support other areas of our business, such as our investment advisory, broker-dealer, and home lending operations.
  • We convey funds to partner banks who accept and maintain deposits, provide the variable interest rate, and provide access to FDIC pass-through insurance.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience, with at least 2 years of experience at a leading national law firm.
  • Prior in-house experience is helpful but not required
  • Prior experience with public company filings, reporting obligations, and governance
  • Familiarity with a variety of general corporate, securities, and commercial transactional work
  • Familiarity with privacy issues helpful, but not required
  • Prior experience reviewing marketing or sales materials helpful, but not required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex legal issues, assess and describe relative risk, and present clear recommendations
  • Ability to spot and address cross-functional legal issues
  • 3-6 years of experience, with at least 2 years of experience at a leading national law firm. Prior in-house experience is helpful but not required
  • Experience advising clients that conduct business in a regulated financial industry and/or other familiarity with applicable legal and regulatory landscapes is helpful, but not required (e.g., investment adviser, broker-dealer, mortgage, banking, money transmitter)
  • Keen attention to detail and good follow-through
  • Ability to provide guidance to all levels of business partners, executive and non-executive
  • Strong drafting/writing/communication skills
  • Willingness to take ownership of a range of projects depending on team and business needs
  • Willingness to learn applicable regulatory schemes if you're not already familiar with them

Compensation

  • $184,000 - $225,000 plus equity and a discretionary bonus.
