About the role
- Serve as the Regulated Financial Reporting Actuary for designated insurance entities in accordance with state insurance regulations
- Prepare and sign the annual Statement of Actuarial Opinion (SAO) on reserves
- Complete the Actuarial Opinion Summary (AOS) and supporting documentation for statutory filings
Responsibilities
- Evaluate reserve adequacy using multiple actuarial methodologies and perform sensitivity analyses
- Strategic Support & Risk Management
- Provide actuarial expertise to support underwriting strategy, pricing, and portfolio management decisions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field
- 5+ years of experience in a reserve analysis or Regulated Financial Reporting Actuary role
- Experience with insurance regulatory examinations and interactions with state insurance departments

- Proficiency with data analytics tools (SQL, R, Python)
- Experience in private equity-owned or alternative capital insurance platforms
- Familiarity with run-off insurance operations or legacy liability portfolios
- Knowledge of international insurance regulations (e.g., Solvency II, Bermuda regulatory framework)
- Boston, MA; Des Moines, IA; or New York, NY
- Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.
- Prior experience serving as Regulated Financial Reporting Actuary or Qualified Actuary for insurance entities strongly preferred
- Background in insurance M&A, reinsurance, or alternative risk transfer is a plus
Skills
- Deep expertise in actuarial reserving methodologies, including statutory reserving methodologies for life and annuity
- Experience with reinsurance structures and financial modeling
- Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles (SAP) and GAAP
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory frameworks and solvency requirements (RBC, ORSA)
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Sound professional judgment and ability to work independently
- High ethical standards and commitment to actuarial professionalism

Compensation
- $225,000 - $275,000 USD
- This is the expected annual base salary range for this Boston-based position.
- This is the expected annual base salary range for this Iowa-based position.
- Prepare and sign the annual Statement of Actuarial Opinion (SAO) on reserves
