About the role
- The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and eager to apply fundamental engineering principles to real-world land development projects.
- Prepare preliminary and final site plans, engineering calculations, reports, permit applications, and supporting project documentation for review by senior staff.
- Assist with due diligence efforts, including site analysis, zoning reviews, utility evaluations, engineer's opinions of probable cost, and project scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Proficient in drafting, data references, grading design, pipe networks, and preparation of technical construction documents.
- Understanding of grading, stormwater management, and drainage design principles.
- The Civil Engineer I supports the Land Development team in the planning, design, and delivery of residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects.
- Collaborate with project team members and clients on land development projects under the direction of senior staff.
- Research and interpret local and state zoning ordinances, development regulations, and design standards.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop design plans and technical deliverables in accordance with company quality standards.
- Manage assigned tasks and workload effectively while communicating project needs, priorities, and schedule impacts to Project Managers and Directors.
- Apply sound engineering judgment and fundamental civil engineering principles to support project objectives.
Requirements
- Conduct site visits and field investigations as required.
Skills
- Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient in Excel for data analysis and Word for technical reports and project documentation.
- Entitlements & Permitting: Understanding of development review processes, permitting requirements, and regulatory approvals.
- Shop Drawing Review: Ability to review submittals for conformance with project plans and specifications.
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or successful completion of the FE Exam preferred.
- 0-3 years of experience supporting site development, land development, or civil infrastructure projects.
- Internship or co-op experience in civil engineering or land development is a plus.
