About the role

  • The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and eager to apply fundamental engineering principles to real-world land development projects.
  • Prepare preliminary and final site plans, engineering calculations, reports, permit applications, and supporting project documentation for review by senior staff.
  • Assist with due diligence efforts, including site analysis, zoning reviews, utility evaluations, engineer's opinions of probable cost, and project scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in drafting, data references, grading design, pipe networks, and preparation of technical construction documents.
  • Understanding of grading, stormwater management, and drainage design principles.
  • The Civil Engineer I supports the Land Development team in the planning, design, and delivery of residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects.
  • Collaborate with project team members and clients on land development projects under the direction of senior staff.
  • Research and interpret local and state zoning ordinances, development regulations, and design standards.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop design plans and technical deliverables in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Manage assigned tasks and workload effectively while communicating project needs, priorities, and schedule impacts to Project Managers and Directors.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment and fundamental civil engineering principles to support project objectives.

  • Conduct site visits and field investigations as required.

Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient in Excel for data analysis and Word for technical reports and project documentation.
  • Entitlements & Permitting: Understanding of development review processes, permitting requirements, and regulatory approvals.
  • Shop Drawing Review: Ability to review submittals for conformance with project plans and specifications.
  • Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or successful completion of the FE Exam preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience supporting site development, land development, or civil infrastructure projects.
  • Internship or co-op experience in civil engineering or land development is a plus.

Compensation
