About the role

  • BGC is seeking an Intermediate Civil-Geotechnical Engineer to join our team.
  • The successful candidate will work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary project teams focused on transportation infrastructure and related civil-geotechnical projects.
  • The ideal candidate will have solid field experience, including geotechnical drilling and construction observation, and will be eligible for professional registration within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design for transportation-related projects, including slope stabilization, earthworks, foundations, and earth retention systems
  • Perform field inspections and site visits during construction phases
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure quality and technical excellence
  • Support project delivery, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with internal teams and clients
  • Solid understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical design principles, including limit equilibrium analysis, ASD and LRFD foundation analysis, and lateral earth pressure and earth retention

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • 5-8 years of relevant industry experience, or 3-6 years with a master's degree
  • Experience with field investigation techniques such as soil visual-manual descriptions, rock core logging, SPT sampling, CPT soundings, test pits, and geophysical surveys
  • Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Experience with deep and shallow foundation design (spread footings, driven piles, drilled shafts, micropiles)
  • The policy states that an employee may be required to take a drug and alcohol test prior to engaging in field work.
  • This testing could be requested within an employee's first week or in the future, as required.

Compensation

  • The estimated base salary range for this position is $90,000-$115,000 USD per annum, however base pay will be commensurate with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
