About the role
- The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering practical, efficient, and sustainable treatment solutions, often in fast-paced or resource-constrained environments.
- Contribute to the implementation and deployment of packaged and decentralized treatment systems
- Conduct process modeling, analysis, and troubleshooting to improve system performance
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize wastewater treatment processes, including biological, chemical, and physical treatment systems (e.g., activated sludge, MBR, MBBR, filtration, disinfection)
- Support the development of process design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, and technical specifications
- Provide hands-on support during installation, commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of treatment systems
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery on time and within scope
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and operational phases
Requirements
- Experience with process modeling tools and engineering design software is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to support both design and field execution (commissioning, troubleshooting, start-up)
Nice to have
- Minimum of five plus (5+) years of experience in wastewater treatment process design and/or operations or commissioning
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental or Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, particularly biological systems (e.g., activated sludge, MBR, MBBR)
- Experience with decentralized or packaged treatment systems is an asset
- Ability to physically implement designs
- Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and industry standards
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach to engineering challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in industrial or remote water treatment projects is considered an asset
- Professional Engineer (PE) designation or eligibility is preferred
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and standards across different regions is an asset
