About the role
- The Mining Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for supporting the mine planning needs and reserves management of the aggregate and sand divisions for the company.
- This position will also oversee the inventory surveying for the company which will include supervising those in a survey role, including assigned drone pilots.
- Assist with engineering life-of-mine plans for quarries as well as sand and gravel operations, focusing on safety, site conditions and limitations, operational efficiency, material quality, etc.
Responsibilities
- Perform modeling and analysis on short-term and long-term mine planning utilizing design software
- Support to aggregate operations for short range mine planning activities such as haul analysis and blasting design
- Partner with Project Engineering by developing mine plans to support civil development for construction projects ranging from large primary crushing installations to railroad spurs
- Manage the gathering and utilization of geologic mapping, drill data from internal and external exploration crews, quality testing results, drone imagery, survey data, and the sales forecast to design 3-D mine plans and mining/stripping schedules
- Develop and maintain strong relationships, acting as the primary point of contact to address needs, provide updates and ensure customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders
- Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
- Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
- Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field of study required
- 8+ years of recent, related experience required
- At least 3 years of experience in mining or the aggregate industry required
- Licensed drone pilot or the ability to obtain license within the first 6 months required
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience with surveying required; experience surveying with drone preferred
- Strong engineering, technical, and analytical skills
- Knowledge of exploration techniques, drilling, geological mapping, and road construction
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work without direct supervision
- A deep commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards
- Ability to create and understand complex Excel spreadsheets
- Ability to engage and influence with all levels of the organization and clients
- Ability to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints
Nice to have
- Experience with surveying required

- Experience with modeling software (AutoCAD, Carlson Mining Software, Esri, Surpac, etc.) preferred
