About the role
- In addition, this position picks and screens unacceptable waste and recyclables, helps direct landfill traffic flow, and helps with baling of cardboard for recycling.
- Also aids with lawn care, grounds maintenance, and snow removal as needed.
- Operates landfill equipment as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Performs general maintenance on landfill equipment.
- Screens and sorts load dumps in the transfer station building.
- Performs lawn care maintenance activities and general grounds maintenance.
- Keep supervisor informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform tasks at Transfer Station or adversely affect Company operations.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge and ability to work with equipment, materials, and supplies found in construction work.
- Ability to view and abide by safety training video.
- Ability to follow proper use and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety precautions and procedures.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Must have good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Nice to have
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
- OSHA 10 is preferred but not required.
- First Aid/CPR is preferred but not required.
- Type III Landfill Certification is preferred but not required.
Compensation
- The base salary range may vary depending on geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.

- Provides backup assistance with operation of the weigh scale. Assists customers with transactions.
