About the role

  • Achieving that goal requires carefully engineered, heavily integrated, electro-mechanical actuators that are compact, efficient, and reliable under demanding conditions.
  • Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Additional details regarding these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer for employment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design efforts for key subsystems, from early concept through production.
  • Support prototyping, bring-up, and issue resolution throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Test and implement mechanical fixes and improvements, owning the process from concept development through validation and formal implementation via Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Use simulation and analysis tools to guide decisions and validate your designs.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical and controls engineers to ensure clean integration and testability.
  • Have experience in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and implementing design changes in a production environment.
  • Have a proven ability to manage technical trade-offs and drive timely resolution of high-stakes, real-world problems.
  • Atlas is our next-generation humanoid robot, built to perform useful work in dynamic, real-world environments.
  • You will be responsible for delivering well-designed and tested components and subsystems that directly impact the robot's motion, manipulation, and overall performance.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4-6 years of related experience or an advanced degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven ability to lead designs through the full development cycle from blank sheet or design improvements through validation and implementation.

  • Experience with Jira, JAMA and Smartsheets
  • Experience using CATIA 3DX CAD system
  • Experience using Arena and/or ENOVIA PLM systems
  • A brief portfolio of images with short descriptions of recent work is required via either web-link or pdf/ppt
  • This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.

Compensation

  • The base pay range for this position is between $116,000 to $150,000 annually.

Benefits

  • You will integrate with the team by working closely with proto-ops working on production and design fixes, learning key sub-systems, and building up to a holistic system understanding and white sheet design concepts.

Company info

  • We're looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design and development of our tightly integrated actuator hardware, from electromechanical subsystems to complex assemblies with precision and load-bearing requirements.
