About the role
- Appointment Type Category 18: Temporary Exempt position, special project-based position limited to no more than 3 years in duration.
- Bringing together City departments and specialized offices under a unified structure, the Agency coordinates a citywide approach to equity and inclusion.
- The Agency includes the Human Rights Commission, Department on the Status of Women, Office of Transgender Initiatives, Office of Racial Equity, and Civil Rights Division, among others.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and oversee the administration of all grant funding, including the development of grant opportunities, application review processes, award recommendations, and fund distribution to nonprofit partners.
- Develop, implement, and refine grantmaking protocols, including RFPs; technical assistance strategies; proposal evaluation frameworks; and contract execution processes.
- Provide senior-level oversight of grantee onboarding, training, and ongoing support to strengthen organizational capacity and ensure effective program delivery.
- Design, implement, and oversee robust grant monitoring systems encompassing fiscal compliance, programmatic performance, and outcome reporting.
- Serve as lead for audits, monitoring reviews, and corrective action processes related to grant-funded programs.
- Support staff development, succession planning, and continuous improvement within the grants administration function.
- Serve as a senior liaison to internal and external partners, including the Office of Contract Administration, Controller's Office, City Attorney, and other City departments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with grantees, advocates, and community stakeholders to ensure funding strategies reflect community needs while maintaining accountability.
- Identify operational risks and inefficiencies within grant administration workflows and lead the development of corrective and preventative solutions.
- The Supervising Grants Administration Manager supervises professional grant staff, collaborates across City departments, and represents AHR in interactions with oversight entities.
Requirements
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
