About the role

  • Consults with Physician in event of adverse reactions. - Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilation, therapeutic gas administration, blood gas collection and analysis and aerosol equipment.
  • Observes equipment function and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum results to therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Cardiopulmonary testing procedures as ordered by physician, including preparation of equipment, assessment and monitoring of patient during procedure, coaching patient during procedure and maintaining infection control processes for patient and equipment.
  • Performs tests, procedures and treatments to inpatients and outpatients on a scheduled basis as well as emergent patient situations.
  • Performs basic life support measures and responds to emergent patient situations.
  • Maintains all cardiopulmonary and respiratory equipment by performing daily maintenance, calibration, pre-use check out procedures and troubleshooting to ensure and maintain a state of readiness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be able to perform job duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as particulate respirator masks, goggles, gloves, and gowns.

Nice to have

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Associate's Degree Graduate of Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program Preferred
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. (Required proficiency)
  • NBRC Must be credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

  • KSBHA Must be licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.

Skills

  • Ability to calculate respiratory-related formulas as necessary for patient care. (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • KSBHA Must be licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts. Required
  • Basic Life Support
  • BLS Required within 90 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation within 90 days of hire. Required

Compensation

  • Abide by Stormont Vail's Remote Worker Policy and will review and acknowledge the Remote Work Agreement annually.
