About the role

  • The Project Director cultivates a student-centered approach to learning while meeting educational and program objectives.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Upward Bound staff.
  • Direct the recruitment and selection of Upward Bound participants.

Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Under general direction of the Dean of Student Services, the Project Director administers the Upward Bound grant by coordinating human, material, and financial resources to implement and maintain program requirements.
  • Manage the project budget in accordance with regulations.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with target school personnel and community partners.
  • Coordinate with Clovis Municipal Schools and Clovis Community College service providers to identify and access support services not funded by the project.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and/or experience managing federally funded projects
  • Must be available to work 40 hrs. per week with normal work hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

Nice to have

  • Experience in designing, implementing, managing, and supervising programs for disadvantaged youth
  • Experience in assessment, academic advising, and/or career guidance
  • Familiarity, including personal experience, with challenges facing low-income, at-risk, and first-generation students

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Assess participant academic and related skills and determine service needs.
  • Requires frequent and continuous sitting/moving about, continuous use of fine motor skills, and pushing and pulling of up to 20 lbs.
