About the role
- Authenticity Guarantee is an important initiative at eBay where a select category of items are authenticated by professional authenticators to increase buyer confidence and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- System Design & Architecture: Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software systems. Participate/lead architectural discussions and produce high-quality design documentation.
- Backend Development: Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance services using Java/Spring Boot. Create and evolve robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs for internal and external integrations.
- Cloud & DevOps: Lead the deployment of services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Cloud Build) and embrace Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles.
- Leadership: Mentor junior team members, conduct rigorous code reviews, and drive engineering standards across the team.

- Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software systems.
- Participate/lead architectural discussions and produce high-quality design documentation.
Requirements
- Core Backend Expertise: Deep expertise in Java/J2EE and Spring Boot.
- API Proficiency: Extensive hands-on experience designing and developing APIs using REST and GraphQL.
- 6+ years of advanced software development experience (or 5+ with a Master's degree or equivalent professional experience) in building large-scale distributed systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/GKE).
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and distributed processing.
- Experience with infrastructure automation and monitoring tools (Cloud Monitoring, Logging, Terraform).
- Understanding of warehouse operations, logistics, or high-value item authentication.
- Basic familiarity with front-end technologies (React) if needed for cross-team collaboration.
