Responsibilities

  • Develop recommendations to improve machine safety in accordance with applicable standards (CSA, ISO, OSHA, etc.)
  • Design, test, and implement machine safety systems (safety controllers and relays, guardrails, interlock systems, safety sensors, etc.)
  • Maintain and enhance machine safety standards
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary project team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering field;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in machine safety or industrial automation;
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards (CSA, ISO, OSHA);
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and safety systems;
  • Ability to write detailed technical reports;

Nice to have

  • LAPORTE is seeking a Machine Safety Engineer with ideally 2 to 5 years of experience in analyzing and managing risks related to industrial equipment to join its Toronto-based team in Mississauga.
  • Our engineer will play a key role in evaluating, designing, and implementing machine safety solutions that comply with industry standards.
