About the role
- Reporting to the Provincial Youth Project Manager, the Provincial Youth Project Coordinator will assist with the development, coordination and implementation of Métis youth programs and services with the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
- These Provincial events include but are not limited to, Alberta Métis Fest, Youth and Seniors Gathering, Cultural Youth Camps, Miyooayaan Wellness Summit, Youth Leadership Conference, and potential other projects and initiatives.
- The successful candidate will work closely with a dedicated team to ensure the success of each event, from planning and execution to post-event evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Manage event registration, participant communications, and inquiries.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define event objectives, scope, and timelines for events.
- Source and manage event venues, vendors, and other external partners.
- Work closely with the management to develop detailed project plans for each event.
- Coordinate with in-house design and communications coordinators to promote events and drive attendance.
- Build and maintain relationships with Métis families, community members, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and partners.
- Strong administrative skills and attention to detail, with the ability to produce professional documents, reports, and presentations.
- A proven track record of building collaborative, positive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including government, industry, service providers, and community.
- Ability to maintain a positive, helpful attitude and be empathetic and compassionate when assisting Métis Albertans.
Requirements
- Two (2) years' experience working in events, and program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Ability to work a regular schedule from Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends as required.
- Must have a driver's license and an operational vehicle.
- Acceptable attainment of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check is required
- Other duties as required or assigned.
- Previous experience of working with grants and grant writing is an asset.
- Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset.
- Other Requirements
- Position will be based in Edmonton.
- Some travel within Alberta is a requirement. Additional less frequent out-of-province travel may also occur, with notice.
