About the role

  • The neurointensivist coordinates neurological and medical management, providing effective collaboration and communication among the specialists who make up the medical team.
  • Assumes a primary care role for patients in the ICU, coordinating both neurological & medical management. (55%)

Requirements

  • Proficiency with standard ICU monitoring, as well as specialized neuro-monitoring and interventions. (20%)
  • The neurointensivist assumes the primary role in the care of critically ill patients, based on their unique knowledge of the interface of the brain with other organ systems.

Skills

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.

Compensation

  • $300,100.00 - $399,700.00 / yr
