About the role

  • The Oncology Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Communicates systematic report to other care providers.
  • Coordinates care delivery; utilizes resources to promote the continuum of care.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and documents progress toward the attainment of outcomes.
  • Implements the plan of care in a safe, timely and appropriate manner.
  • Manages patient care based on knowledge of cancer, cancer treatment, and side effects of such treatment.
  • Uses quality and evidence based practice to deliver and improve care.

Skills

  • High School Graduate
  • Associate Degree Nursing Must complete BSN within 5 years of hire
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing
  • 1 or more years med surg/acute care
  • 1 or more years oncology experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS)
  • American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN)
  • Multi-State
  • Chemo Certification
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Certification preferred for Infusion/Treatment departments
  • demonstrates knowledge and skills in chemotherapy/biotherapy and blood products.
