About the role

Conducts testing and interprets data of highly complex clinical laboratory testing for human specimens.
Ensures that assigned samples are tested in a timely manner.
Ensures that pre-analytical and post-analytical aspects of the testing process meets acceptance guidelines prior to releasing results.

Performs routine daily, weekly, and monthly quality control and quality assurance duties.
Performs calibration and preventative maintenance of all equipment, troubleshoots instrument problems, and reports all quality failures to the laboratory supervisor, manager, and/or quality assurance officer.
Maintains awareness and understanding of laboratory safety and security by following all laboratory procedures for properly discarding samples and chemical waste.
Maintains compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and ensures the retention and protection of laboratory data at all times.

Bachelor's degree in biological, environmental, or chemical science.
Minimum 3 years professional experience in a biological, chemical, or environmental laboratory.
Minimum 1 year professional experience with the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
Advanced degree.
Minimum 4 years professional experience in a biological, chemical, or environmental laboratory.
Minimum 2 years professional experience with the laboratory information management system (LIMS).

Maintains competency for all applicable test methods, including operation and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation and participation in proficiency testing as required by regulatory guidelines.
Must have a valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist Generalist (CLS-G) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLC-S) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
