About the role
- We are seeking a highly driven and strategic Accounting Manager to join our Global Corporate Accounting team.
- As an Accounting Manager, you will be a key contributor to the company's financial statements, internal controls, and cross-functional collaboration.
- This is a high-impact role with visibility across finance and business teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage and be accountable for a full-cycle, multi-entity close across Remitly's global entities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and business partners to ensure accurate accounting treatment for accruals, new products, and strategic initiatives.
- Drive key initiatives and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Build scalable processes that reduce manual intervention and eliminate operational dependencies.
- Lead and review critical components of the month-end and quarter-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and trend reviews, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tight deadlines.
- Monitor and maintain the control framework around accounting processes to drive continuous strengthening of the company's control environment to support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
- Lead and contribute to projects that improve operational excellence within the Accounting organization.
- Identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization, leveraging AI tools, scripting, and modern tooling to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy and scalability.
- Analyze current accounting workflows and lead initiatives to simplify, standardize, and scale processes, with a bias toward eliminating recurring manual tasks.
Requirements
- Have a strong understanding of core accounting concepts including accrual basis accounting, matching principle, and period-end cutoff.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Compensation
- The starting base salary range for this position is typically $104,000-$130,000.
- In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.

- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting documentation to support quarterly and annual SEC filings, including 10-Q and 10-K support, and SOX compliance requirements.
