About the role

  • BGC is seeking an intermediate level Geotechnical or Geological Engineer (or similar) with a fundamental understanding and interest in rock mechanics, and experience in geo-mechanical design for open pit slopes and/or underground development, waste rock storage facilities, and/or natural rock slope stability to join our team in Reno, Nevada.

Responsibilities

  • Working on projects related to geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design for proposed and operating open pit and/or underground mines
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams across BGC's business sectors, contributing geotechnical expertise to a variety of projects.
  • Preparing technical documents related to your project work
  • BGC requires that employees have a valid driver's license, and that employees can drive a field pickup truck.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a similar degree
  • Post graduate degree is desirable
  • The policy states that an employee may be required to take a drug and alcohol test prior to engaging in field work.
  • This testing could be requested within an employee's first week or in the future, as required.
  • The suitable candidate should have the ability to work in multi-disciplined project teams across BGC's various business sectors, with a focus on mining.

Nice to have

  • Development of geotechnical models (3D geological and structural modeling software experience is a plus)

Compensation

  • The estimated base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 USD per annum, however base pay will be commensurate with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • BGC's compensation package also includes a discretionary bonus plan, training allowance, and comprehensive medical and dental plan.
