About the role

  • A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline. AIS is looking for a Field Party Chief and Component Lead II (Gulf Video Survey)
  • to support NOAAs SEFSC Population and Ecosystems Monitoring Division (PEMD).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate logistical support for surveys including shipboard data collection and post-survey support
  • Perform video annotation, review, and data entry using VIAME; identify marine fishes from Gulf of America and Caribbean Sea habitats
  • Manage review and tracking sheets; update GitHub project management tools
  • AIS is looking for a Field Party Chief and Component Lead II (Gulf Video Survey) to support NOAAs SEFSC Population and Ecosystems Monitoring Division (PEMD).

Requirements

  • Knowledge of SEAMAP field sampling protocols for reef fish
  • knowledge of shipboard SCS and SEAL data systems
  • knowledge of reef taxa from the Gulf of America
  • Knowledge of procedures when encountering endangered or threatened species
  • must have current tetanus vaccine

Nice to have

  • MS Degree in Marine Science or related field
  • Domestic and international travel anticipated for at-sea surveys and scientific meetings.

Compensation

  • Candidates will be paid an hourly rate to be negotiated, and total compensation will vary depending on candidates' depth of experience.
  • This is a full-time position.
