About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, GCP, and Kafka.
  • Build and support scalable REST APIs.
  • Develop event-driven solutions leveraging Kafka and cloud-native messaging patterns.
  • Design data models and optimize performance using Bigtable and related cloud databases.
  • Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, security, and product teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical mentoring activities.
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of technical industry trends, particularly as they apply to Huntington.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business or other related field/experience
  • 5-7+ years of experience in software engineering and enterprise application development.

Nice to have

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of cloud security, authentication, authorization, and API gateway technologies.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with observability tools, including logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing solutions.

Skills

  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, including API security, versioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Solid understanding of Cloud Architecture principles, including scalability, resiliency, fault tolerance, security, and high availability.
  • Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including application deployment and cloud-native solution development.
  • Strong experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, and real-time data processing.
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Bigtable or similar NoSQL databases for high-volume, low-latency workloads.
  • Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and Agile software development methodologies.
  • Understand business requirements.
