Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner on portfolio, organizational, capability, and investment decisions.
  • Partner with scientific and portfolio leaders to surface risks, opportunities, tradeoffs, and resource requirements while supporting informed and timely decision-making.
  • Partner with scientific leaders to identify capability gaps, evaluate innovation opportunities, and encourage adoption of emerging technologies and best practices.
  • In this vital role you will serve as a strategic partner to the VP Research and the Inflammation Leadership Team, translating TA strategy into measurable priorities, operating plans, and outcomes.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and operational systems to improve portfolio management, project reviews, knowledge synthesis, decision support, and operating efficiency.
  • Support external collaborations by helping track scientific progress, milestones, budgets, risks, and decision points in partnership with scientific and business stakeholders.
  • Drive leadership team effectiveness, operating cadence, and cross-functional alignment across the Inflammation TA.
  • Lead high-priority special projects involving organizational design, talent strategy, capability building, change management, and operational improvement.
  • Lead business operations and executive communications
  • Develop executive-level presentations, business reviews, strategic communications, governance materials, portfolio reviews, and leadership updates.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of biotech/pharma-related management, project management, or strategic operations experience
  • Master's degree and 4 years of biotech/pharma-related management, project management, or strategic operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of biotech/pharma-related management, project management, or strategic operations experience
  • Associate's degree and 10 years of biotech/pharma-related management, project management, or strategic operations experience
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of biotech/pharma-related management, project management, or strategic operations experience
  • Enable effective portfolio governance by coordinating the processes, analytics, operating mechanisms, and follow-through required to support leadership decisions.

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, portfolio management, governance, operations, budgeting, resource planning, and performance management in an R&D organization.
  • Scientific credibility and ability to synthesize complex scientific, operational, and business information into actionable recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams in a global, matrixed, rapidly changing environment with a high tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of executive presentations, business reviews, governance materials, and strategic communications.
  • Experience with change management, organizational effectiveness, talent planning, leadership team operating cadence, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Passion for innovation, technology, AI-enabled discovery, operational excellence, and new ways of working that improve scientific quality and speed.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Smartsheet, collaboration tools, data visualization tools, and AI-enabled productivity or knowledge-synthesis tools.

Compensation

  • 149,976.55USD -202,909.45 USD
  • Partner directly with the VP Research and Inflammation Leadership Team to define, execute, and track TA strategy, annual goals, long-range priorities, and operating mechanisms.
