About the role
- Our robots take on the tedious, hazardous, and ergonomically demanding work that has kept manufacturing dependent on a shrinking skilled workforce, delivering superhuman performance.
- Our systems are in active production today, adapting autonomously to real geometries, real materials, and real process variation without reprogramming.
- We hire people who want to solve hard physical problems at an industrial scale.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement algorithms, systems, and architecture for high-DOF robotic systems working in manufacturing environments.
- Partner with Systems and Applications Engineers to define robotics software feature requirements needed for non-standard and R&D projects
- Collaborate with the Robotics Software team to maintain coding best practices and standards, so R&D prototypes can transition smoothly into the product codebase
- Partner with GMR software engineers to prototype new ideas, processes, and methods
- GrayMatter Robotics is a well-capitalized Physical AI company headquartered in Los Angeles, building Factory SuperIntelligence (FSI) through systems that learn, adapt, and develop genuine process intelligence across every part they touch.
- We deliver our system through a Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) model that converts capital expenditure into an operating subscription, making Physical AI accessible to the manufacturers who need it most.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
- Proficiency in C++ and Python production-level coding.
- Proficiency in working with ROS2 and other open-source libraries relevant to robotics.
Nice to have
- 4+ years of production deploying complex robotics systems
- Experience with R&D of robotics systems
- Experience with robot sensors including LiDARs, stereo/depth cameras
- Experience with 6DOF robot arms
- Experience with state-of-art robotics algorithms (e.g. VLA)
