About the role

  • Under direct supervision, Vacuum Melt Tech I is responsible for the maintenance, setup, and operation of vacuum melters and tube furnaces to melt and cast pure metals and alloys into plates/ingots.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Set up and operate the band saw, and barrel blaster

  • Maintain supplies necessary for the operation and maintenance of vacuum melters and tube furnaces

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and short correspondence.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and convert in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Nice to have

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent plus one year of industrial training and a minimum 03-12 months of related experience.

Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and short correspondence.
  • Ability to write standard documentation.
  • Ability to communicate with other employees to share information and solve problems.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and convert in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Requires the ability to operate the department equipment to include, but not limited to, a water jet and hot roll.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; stand, talk and hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 45 lbs.
