About the role

Under direct supervision, Vacuum Melt Tech I is responsible for the maintenance, setup, and operation of vacuum melters and tube furnaces to melt and cast pure metals and alloys into plates/ingots.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Set up and operate the band saw, and barrel blaster

Maintain supplies necessary for the operation and maintenance of vacuum melters and tube furnaces

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING REQUIRED: Requires the use of safety glasses, safety shoes, a respirator, and protective clothing such as a uniform or lab coat.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and short correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and convert in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Requires high school diploma or equivalent plus one year of industrial training and a minimum 03-12 months of related experience.

Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and short correspondence.
Ability to write standard documentation.
Ability to communicate with other employees to share information and solve problems.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and convert in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute percent.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Requires the ability to operate the department equipment to include, but not limited to, a water jet and hot roll.
Ability to operate a computer.
The employee is frequently required to walk; stand, talk and hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 45 lbs.

Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
