About the role

This individual will bring extensive expertise in electrical estimating combined with proven capabilities and experience in managing junior to mid-level estimators.
Bid Proposal Preparation: Generate detailed proposals, including cost for materials, labor subcontractors, permitting and overhead Supplier/Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain quotes from suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing.

Blueprint & Specification Analysis: Review construction documents to determine the full scope of work, including lighting, power, low voltage and fire alarm systems.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential pitfalls in projects, such as design gaps or challenging site conditions, to include in contingencies.
Excellent communicator to effectively support the team and provide clear direction
Team player with ability to collaborate with a wide variety of personnel both internal and external
Ability to incorporate the Chicago Electrical Code, National Electrical Code, building codes, and OSHA requirements into estimates
Desire to build relationships with key stakeholders involved with the estimating process and actively participate in industry, client, and community relations
Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to implement change

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, expert in Excel
Ability to visit jobsites and interact with field personnel
Meticulously calculate quantities of materials (conduit, wire, fixtures) and labor hours required for installation.

This role requires an individual with outstanding negotiation skills, a strong record of business development success, and the ability to enhance client satisfaction while delivering optimal business outcomes.
BS in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred
10+ years electrical contracting or construction experience
5+ years electrical estimating experience
Computerized estimating experience - ConEst preferred

Ability and desire to train and mentor estimators and PM development candidates
Ability to work with tight deadlines and thrive under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor
Thorough knowledge of the electrical industry with general knowledge of mechanical, civil, and other specialty trades
Strong conceptual estimating skills

Base salary: $130K-$145K, commensurate with experience
