Responsibilities

  • Own the full month-end and quarter-end close process for assigned functional areas, ensuring accuracy and adherence to the close calendar.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow support) and supporting variance commentary for leadership.
  • Lead or support SOX control execution and documentation for assigned processes
  • Research and document accounting treatment for new transactions, contracts, or store growth initiatives (new units, re-franchising, M&A support as needed).
  • Identify, design, and implement process and systems improvements to increase close efficiency and controls maturity.
  • Lead or support SOX control execution and documentation for assigned processes; help remediate identified deficiencies.
  • Train, review, and develop Staff and Junior Accountants; act as a technical resource for the broader accounting team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple close workstreams independently and meet firm deadlines.

Requirements

  • those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to others
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting/audit and multi-unit retail or restaurant industry experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
  • Experience mentoring or informally leading junior staff.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA strongly preferred (active or in progress).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar)
  • experience with reporting/BI tools a plus.
