Responsibilities
- Lead contributions to Mapbox Studio, our flagship map design tool. Studio is a complex React / Redux app that requires fluency in Javascript, Typescript, and web technologies. Ship simple, approachable, performant, testable code.
- Build workflow tools that enable our map designers to create beautiful maps faster and easier.
- Participate in the design process by listening to users, attending design critiques, and providing guidance and feedback informed by a deep understanding of technical constraints.
- Collaborative Mindset: You possess a strong desire to mentor peers, engage in pair programming, and document your expertise to elevate the entire engineering team.
- Lead contributions to Mapbox Studio, our flagship map design tool.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable high volume low latency backend services and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency using AI as a sounding board and productivity multiplier while maintaining a trust but verify approach auditing AI-generated code for security, performance, and architectural integrity.
- You have extensive experience integrating RESTful APIs and a functional understanding of cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
- As a Software Development Engineer II (Fullstack), you can expect to:
- Backend Infrastructure: 3+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable high volume low latency backend services and CI/CD pipelines.
- AI Usage: Proficiency using AI as a sounding board and productivity multiplier while maintaining a trust but verify approach auditing AI-generated code for security, performance, and architectural integrity.
- State Management Mastery: You are proficient in designing complex application and component states using solutions like Redux, ensuring scalable and maintainable data flow.
- Fullstack Integration: You have extensive experience integrating RESTful APIs and a functional understanding of cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
- Quality Assurance: You are comfortable working with testing frameworks such as Playwright or Jest to ensure code reliability and performance.

Compensation
- Our annual base compensation for this role ranges from $160,650 - $217,350 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor.
