About the role
- Bus Driver RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Transportation and Supervisor of Transportation.
- GENERAL SUMMARY: The position of Bus Driver, under the direction of the Transportation Director, is responsible for the safe transportation of special education students for the Saginaw Intermediate School District.
- Other duties involve managing the operation of the bus to ensure a safe and hazard-free environment for all students.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe environment on the bus.
- Must complete and document daily pre-trip inspection of the vehicle and must immediately report needed repairs.
- To be at assigned work site at stated starting times, ready to perform assigned duties.
- In cooperation with program staff, implements behavior management plans, as appropriate.
- To prepare and maintain route sheets.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
- Candidate is required to have an appropriate commercial driver's license and bus driver's certification.
- Candidate is required to have an excellent driving record.
- Candidate must have good interpersonal relationship skills and be able to work well with students, parents, and co-workers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Must have working knowledge of computer keyboarding skills.
- Candidate must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills.
- To prepare reports and keep all records required.
- To perform related duties as required by the Transportation Director.
Nice to have
- Candidate must have prior work experience with children.
- Experience working with special needs children is preferred.
