About the role
- This role is responsible for ensuring that all practice and gameday playing surfaces meet or exceed NFL standards while supporting the organization's commitment to athlete safety, operational excellence, and facility presentation.
- This includes planning and execution for the NFL football season and inclement weather planning.
- Ensures consistency among facility fields and seeks to gain efficiencies where possible.
Responsibilities
- The Senior Director will lead all aspects of turf and grounds management, including strategic planning, budgeting, personnel leadership, field maintenance, vendor management, and regulatory compliance.
- The position requires a highly skilled leader who can effectively manage day-to-day operations while developing long-term field management strategies in a demanding, high-performance environment.
- Develop and implement long-term plans for all facility fields (3 outdoor grass fields and 1full indoor synthetic field, and a 60yd outdoor synthetic field), common landscaping areas, and other open spaces as designated.
- Participate in all aspects of talent management including hiring, training, and performance to build a high-performing department.
- Manage and plan for poor, harsh and/or hazardous weather conditions.
- Develop guidelines for field usage and partner with internal teams to collaborate.
- Develop and implement emergency preparedness and disaster recovery plans for all outdoor facilities.
Requirements
- Ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays in all kinds of weather conditions, including cold, heat, rain and snow.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as turfgrass science, horticulture, or turf management is required.
- OSHA 10 certification or above is required.
- Ensure that NFL fields are of the highest quality and always maintained to the standards required for professional NFL athletes.
Nice to have
- 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience in professional sports field management or grounds operations and management is required.
- Prior NFL experience preferred.
- 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience in managing natural grass fields in addition to managing a practice facility under harsh weather conditions, preferably cool weather grass.
- Proven ability and experience in managing tight deadlines in high pressure situations while maintaining relationships, ensuring safety and effectively communicating.
- Preferably experience working with Kentucky Blue Grass.
- A master's degree or industry certifications such as Level 3 (Advanced) Certified Sports Field Manager is preferred.

- Financial acumen: Strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting.
- Technical knowledge: In-depth knowledge of NFL guidelines/standards, field maintenance practices, landscaping and applicable regulations.
- Analytical and problem-solving
- Ability to lift and jostle up to 50lbs.
- Ability to bend over, stand from seated/bent over positions and get up and down.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Communication:
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for engaging with senior leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Financial acumen:
- Strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting.
- Technical knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of NFL guidelines/standards, field maintenance practices, landscaping and applicable regulations.
Compensation
- Create and manage annual and long-term budgets for grounds operations, including capital expenditures for resodding, projects, equipment, and resources.
