About the role
- Although an entry level position, this position plays crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of soils and aggregates used in North Carolina's highway system.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure the cleanliness of laboratory equipment.
- Assist the lead testing technician in upholding AASHTO re:Source accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with the GeoMaterial Engineer to troubleshoot and resolve soil and aggregate materials performance issues.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to lift samples and equipment weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to wear safety glasses and other personal protective equipment.
- Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Knowledge of engineering theories, techniques, practices, and procedures relating to construction materials, sampling and test procedures.
- Experience in the use of applicable software including Microsoft Office.

Compensation
- NC07 / $37,377.00 - $65,408.00
- Salary for a trainee may be set at a lower level than the classification salary range and recruitment range that is listed in the posting with the salary being adjusted accordingly when the trainee has obtained the necessary additional education and experience to fully meet the minimum qualifications as outlined in the classification specification.

- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
