About the role

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate daily project activities to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules and client expectations.
  • Monitor project productivity, quality, safety performance, and workforce effectiveness while implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Review field operations and identify opportunities for operational improvements, increased efficiencies, and enhanced safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate advanced conveyor maintenance activities including belt tracking, tensioning, alignment corrections, splice fabrication, and component replacement.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and support timely resolution to minimize operational downtime.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific safety plans, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain safety documentation including inspection reports, training records, incident reports, corrective action logs, JHAs, AHAs, site-specific safety requirements, and regulatory compliance records.
  • Monitor and evaluate project safety performance metrics, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support onboarding, site orientations, and safety training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors assigned to project sites.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in conveyor belting, process maintenance, mechanical maintenance, rubber repair, or heavy industrial maintenance required.
  • Experience performing vulcanized and mechanical belt splicing required.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent, or equivalent field leadership role required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading safety programs, conducting safety inspections, facilitating safety meetings, and overseeing regulatory compliance required.
  • Ability to meet requirements for industrial and mining work sites required.
  • Current MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • OSHA 30 Construction or General Industry certification required or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
  • Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screening.

Nice to have

  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis training preferred.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of conveyor system components including pulleys, idlers, scrapers, chutes, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of project planning, workforce coordination, resource management, budgeting considerations, and project execution principles.
  • Familiarity with mining, industrial, oil & gas, and construction work environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills related to conveyor failures, belt mistracking, wear patterns, and system performance.
  • Proficient use of hand tools, power tools, vulcanizing equipment, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to conduct and facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning sessions, audits, inspections, and employee training.
