About the role
- Saint Louis University's Department of Neurology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our multidisciplinary team working on an NIH-funded project.
- The project investigates alcohol-induced cerebrovascular dysfunction, focusing on the role of lipid signaling in blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption and neuroinflammation.
- The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in MCAO surgeries, biochemical analysis, and behavioral testing in a cutting-edge research environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion (MCAO) surgeries to model ischemic stroke in mice.
- Perform Western blotting, PCR, immunohistochemistry, and fluorescence imaging.
- Collaborate with laboratory team members on experimental design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
Requirements
- Experience in surgical techniques, specifically MCAO, for stroke models in mice.
- Experience with behavioral analysis in mice.
Nice to have
- Experience with lipid signaling, autotaxin, and LPP3 pathways in cerebrovascular research.
- Knowledge of animal models of neuroinflammation and ischemic stroke.
- Familiarity with neuroimaging techniques and data analysis tools (e.g., ImageJ, GraphPad Prism).
- Position Details:
- Full-time, 40 hours/week.
