About the role

Marathon Petroleum Company's Kenai Refinery is currently looking for a full-time Refinery Inspector for the Inspection Group in the Maintenance Department.
The Area Inspector is responsible for ensuring fixed equipment is in compliance with state regulations, refining standards, and specifications.
This role works closely with operations and maintenance to identify issues and mitigate mechanical integrity risks.

Develops and executes inspection plans/life cycle management for refining equipment based on service, design, condition, jurisdictional requirements, temporary repairs and equipment replacements, Turnaround (TAR) dates, and inspection history.
Understands critical process variables that affect equipment reliability, identifies gaps, and leads gap closure effort.

Must have both API 510 and API 570 certifications.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years inspection experience in Fixed Equipment, Reliability &/or Maintenance in a refinery, petro-chemical or other heavy related industry.
Must be familiar with Risk Based Inspection (RBI) strategy based on API-580/581.
Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
Must have a valid driver's license. (MPC determines valid status.)
Must have steady employment history.
Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
Must be able to work Monday- Thursday - 7 AM - 5:30 PM, after hours calls are required several times a year and support of TAR every 3 years.

Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Corrosion Technology, Welding Technology, or Non-Destructive Technology (NDT) is preferred.
API 653, 571, 580, and/or 581 certifications are preferred.
CWI/AWS/SW certifications are preferred.
ANST Level II (UTT, RTFI, MT, PT) certifications are preferred.
More than three (3) or more years of experience as a refinery inspector working with industry-related codes is preferred.
Extensive experience and understanding of RBI inspection strategies based on API-580/581 is preferred.
Experience with IDMS software such as APM and RBMI is preferred.
