About the role

  • As a Line Handler, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently handling mooring lines to secure ships during berthing and unberthing operations.
  • Your role is crucial in ensuring the safety of vessels and personnel.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates in the Kitimat and surrounding area.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain communication with the ships bridge crew and line handling supervisor to coordinate mooring operations, including signaling for line handling maneuvers.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and handling heavy mooring lines and working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Requirements

  • Previous experience in ship mooring operations or maritime roles
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for maritime operations with a focus on preventing accidents and injuries
  • Additional certificates or training in line handling, maritime safety or related areas may be required
  • Complete drug and alcohol testing if required
  • All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Assist with other dock operations as required
