About the role
- As the Accounts Payable Manager at Cart.com, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our payment processes.
- You will be a key player in our finance department, overseeing AP month-end close activities and preparing for internal and external audits.

Responsibilities
- Manage the AP Function: Oversee the entire accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment execution, credit applications, vendor management, and reconciliation of accounts.
- Lead and Mentor the AP Team: Supervise a team of three to four AP associates, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of the AP function, including automation and system enhancements.
- Vendor Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, resolving any issues related to invoicing, payments, or discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Month-End Close: Support the monthly financial close process by preparing AP-related reconciliations, accruals, and reports, ensuring all AP transactions are accurately recorded.
- System Management: Collaborate with IT and finance teams to maintain and improve AP systems (e.g., Bill.com, Microsoft Dynamics), ensuring they meet the needs of the business.
- Audit Preparation: Prepare for and support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and reports related to the AP function.
- Training and Documentation: Develop training materials and standard operating procedures for the AP team, ensuring consistency and compliance across the department.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including procurement, finance, and operations, to streamline processes and support overall business objectives.
- Strong Leader: You possess strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage, mentor, and motivate a team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Requirements
- Detail-Oriented and Accurate: You have an exceptional eye for detail and prioritize accuracy in all aspects of your work, ensuring the integrity of financial data.
- Highly Organized: You are skilled at managing multiple priorities, maintaining organization in a fast-paced environment, and ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
- Tech-Savvy: You are comfortable working with various accounting and AP systems, quickly adapting to new technologies and tools.
- 6+ Years of Accounts Payable Experience: Proven experience in managing AP functions, including vendor management, invoice processing, and payment execution.
- Experience in High-Growth Environments: Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth companies, ideally in the e-commerce or technology sector.
- Strong Knowledge of AP Systems: Proficient in AP tools such as Bill.com, Microsoft Dynamics, and other ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel Skills: Expertise in Excel, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex data analysis.
Nice to have
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth companies, ideally in the e-commerce or technology sector.
- Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus, demonstrating a deep understanding of financial principles.
Skills
- Expertise in Excel, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex data analysis.
- Experience implementing or working with automation tools to streamline AP processes.
- Process Improvement Mindset: Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Knowledge of Tax Compliance: Familiarity with tax regulations related to AP, including W-9 and 1099 reporting.
- Experience with Automation Tools: Experience implementing or working with automation tools to streamline AP processes.
- Nice to Haves:
- Experience with Multi-Entity Organizations: Experience managing AP for multi-entity or multi-location businesses.
- Familiarity with International Payments: Experience managing AP processes involving international vendors and currencies.
