Responsibilities

  • Members of the Embedded Electronics group support a variety of multi-disciplinary programs lasting an average of 12 to 18 months each.
  • In addition to working on sponsored programs, group members are also encouraged to develop and participate in internally funded research and development programs.
  • In addition, an Electronic Hardware Design Engineer develops, tests, and oversees the manufacturing of electrical printed circuit boards (PCBs), analog and digital circuits, electronic equipment, sensors, motors, radar and navigation systems.
  • This engineer develops the architecture, designs circuit, performs simulations, performs physical layout, verifies and tests designs.
  • Performs a variety of engineering activities throughout the life cycle to support planning, design, test, deployment, and sustainment.
  • The Tailored Systems Business Area within Electronics Program Office directorate delivers first-of-a-kind field-ready microelectronics solutions in support of National Security missions.
  • 2) driving leading edge technology development efforts to support future mission needs.
  • Design and/or complete instruments including microprocessors, power, and analog components.
  • Innovatively solve issues, drive completion of the project to schedule, and collaboratively work with other technical contributors.
  • Build and test prototypes, debug, and prepare documentation for manufacturing, and support.

Requirements

  • Experience crafting sophisticated electronic systems using commercial off-the-shelf FGPAs, processors, or systems on a chip (SOCs).
  • The ability to program FPGAs and microcontrollers is expected only at a level required to understand the design of the supporting hardware.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Translate project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures working with cross-functional teams.
  • Independently executes assignments with minimal oversight.
  • Able to apply technical knowledge to solve problems.
  • Contribute high quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance.
  • Proficiency in electronic design, microprocessor or embedded computing.
