Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one year of experience in the area of specialization.
  • The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required.

Compensation

  • $62,044 - $102,371

  • Responsible for providing technical guidance and expertise to assess and develop tools to meet policy requirements for infection disease/prevention program.
  • Must maintain knowledge of policies and procedures of the Department of Adult Correction & Health Services, plus knowledge of NC communicable disease rules and regulations.
  • Position requires expertise in wound management, as well as advanced skills in research utilization, program development, and quality improvement.
  • Position requires understanding of long-term care, environmental practices as well as HAI's.
  • Position provides HIV testing, counseling and prevention education in assigned prisons.
  • Provides post test positive counseling with risk reduction planning to HIV positive offenders.
  • Prepares monthly reports and completes reporting requirements for CDC and DHHS on all HIV positive offenders.
  • Assesses HIV positive offenders on regular basis to determine medication compliance, adverse reactions, laboratory values, complaints, etc.
  • Performs discharge planning to include follow-up appointments with community providers, medication assistance, housing, etc.
  • Monitors and tracks all Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B, and active TB patients on treatment at assigned units.
  • Updates custody/ medical staff of changes and prepares facility field trainers to perform blood borne pathogen classes.
  • Provides education updates to field staff on infectious diseases as needed. Serves as an Infection Prevention expert.
