Responsibilities

  • Support complex department projects, including planning, training, implementation, and documentation of solutions.
  • Creates and updates work instructions, first piece sheets, and other production support documentation.
  • Support and assist in development of effective automated and manual systems for machining lines.
  • Support and assist in the development of CNC machining operations including milling, turning, grinding, as well as verification systems including in-process and post-process gauging methods/systems.
  • Support and assist in development of additional operations including friction welding, laser marking, stress relieving, annealing, roll threading, and component balancing.
  • Perform test and analyze data to improve department functions and assist with daily manufacturing support.
  • Assists the Department Manager, Production Facilitator, and Engineering with the implementation of new or modified production lines in the department, as well as providing technical support to complex production processes and machinery.
  • Works with Manufacturing Tool Design to develop concepts for fixtures, cutting tools and new products.
  • Makes recommendations for improving the machining operation, design changes, tooling changes and manufacturing process for cost efficiency.
  • Tests and evaluates new programs and perform any necessary edits.

Requirements

  • Experience working with complex part balancing systems is required.
  • A working knowledge of friction welding, CNC turning, CNC milling, finish grinding, stress relieving, annealing, roll threading, and component balancing is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, electrical schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with computers and common software (Windows, MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Standing, walking, talking, hearing, and using hands/fingers to handle or feel may be required.
  • Adequate hearing protection required for noise levels above 85 decibels.
  • Experience with vision systems (Cognex, Keyence), Fanuc robotics, and mechatronic systems is required.
  • Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in automation and controls.
  • Physical & Environmental Requirements

Nice to have

  • Completion of high school or equivalent with courses in machine shop, mechanical drafting, or engineering vocational training is a plus.
  • Associate engineering degree from an accredited technical program is preferred.
  • Courses or vocational training in electronics, controls, or engineering are a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience on a manufacturing floor working with technical issues and material flow preferred
  • Experience with basic statistics is preferred.
  • Mastercam & CNC programming experience is preferred.
