Responsibilities

  • Utilize CM/ECF to electronically file documents in federal and state courts.
  • Prepare templates for complaints, motions, briefs, petitions, and other legal documents.
  • Create tables of contents and tables of authorities for briefs and other legal documents.
  • Compile and organize documents for discovery, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Utilize eDiscovery platform to manage, review, and assist with production.
  • Check citations in briefs and other legal documents to determine the accuracy of quoted material.
  • Maintain and manage case files and calendaring deadlines in the case management database.
  • You will be asked to perform related duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Paralegal degree or national certification or equivalent work experience.
  • Requires 5+ years of advanced experience performing litigation paralegal duties.
  • Strong cite-checking skills and working knowledge of Bluebook.
  • Experience working with multiple attorneys simultaneously while maintaining a heavy litigation caseload.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential information.

Skills

  • Act in a confidential capacity to all Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys.
  • Know and understand federal, state, and local rules and ensure they are followed for each case.
  • Prepare trial notebooks and exhibits.
  • Prepare deposition notices and exhibits.
  • Monitor court docket for assigned cases.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw and other online databases.
  • Check citations to determine the accuracy of citation format according to the Bluebook, local court rules, or other citation guidelines.
  • Maintain and manage documents in iManage.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • May supervise legal duties of one or more legal administrative assistants, when needed.
